Privacy Policy

Our aim is to help people breathe easier at home, in rooms they understand. We want you to understand how we handle your personal information, and to know your rights and your choices.

This policy describes how we handle your personal information when you use the following The Indoor Forecast services:

• Our websites, like theindoorforecast.com
• Our email newsletters, where we offer them
• Our pages or ads on social media networks
• Anywhere we gather information from or about you and refer you to this Privacy Policy

How we handle information about you depends on which Services you use and how you use them.

If you have questions, please contact us at [email protected]. You can also read our Privacy F.A.Q.

1. What information do we gather about you?

The information we gather depends on the context. By and large it is information about you that can personally identify you — either on its own, or when combined with other information.

1 (A) Information collected through The Indoor Forecast services

i. Information you voluntarily give us

For registration: when you sign up for a The Indoor Forecast service, we collect personal identifiers such as your contact information, including your name and email address, and account credentials.

For user-generated content: we may offer you the ability to post content other readers can see, such as comments. Anyone can read, collect and use any personal information that accompanies your posts. We are not obliged to publish your content.

For contests, giveaways and special offers: from time to time we run promotions. When you sign up for one, you give us your name, your email and any other required information.

For reader surveys and feedback: we gather personal information through questionnaires, surveys and feedback programs.

ii. A note about sensitive personal information

We generally do not want to gather sensitive personal information about you. That includes government-issued IDs, racial or ethnic origin, political opinions, religion, health or biometric characteristics, sexuality, citizenship or immigration status, criminal background, the content of your private communications, or your precise geolocation.

iii. Information collected automatically

When you use The Indoor Forecast services we collect some information automatically, using cookies, web beacons, tags and scripts. The categories are:

Identifiers and device information: your IP address, cookie identifiers, operating system and browser information, device identifiers and advertising identifiers.

Geolocation information: we use location information such as your city, state or postcode to personalize the content we show you.

Other usage data: we collect information about your interactions with our site, such as the URLs of pages you visit, how long you spent on a page, access times and search queries.

1 (B) Inferences; information we create or generate

We infer new information from other data we collect, including by automated means. These inferences include information about your likely preferences or other characteristics — for example, that a reader of our humidity guides may also be interested in dehumidifiers.

1 (C) Information collected from other sources

Marketing, data analytics and social-media-owned databases give us access to a range of information, such as public data and survey data.

2. What do we do with the information we collect?

2 (A) We provide the The Indoor Forecast services. We use your information to help you use and navigate the site, arrange access to your account, provide reader support and respond to your questions.

2 (B) We personalize your experience. We track your interests and reading habits to personalize your experience, using technology such as algorithmic recommendations.

2 (C) We allow you to share content. Any information you disclose in a comment or submission becomes public.

2 (D) We develop the site and do analysis. We analyze data on reader behavior to make editorial and business decisions and to improve the site.

2 (E) We carry out administrative and legal tasks. We process information to comply with legal, regulatory and contractual obligations.

2 (F) We allow personalized advertising, and we use affiliate links. We gather data and work with service providers and third parties to show you personalized ads. The affiliate link vendors we use in our guides and product recommendations may include links that send you to a vendor’s URL. Those vendors use cookies and other technologies to collect navigation information. If you buy a product after following one of our links, we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you.

2 (G) We market the site to you. We market The Indoor Forecast to you, sometimes using marketing vendors.

2 (H) We aggregate or de-identify personal information. Sometimes we aggregate or de-identify information so that it can no longer identify you. We can use and disclose that aggregated or de-identified information for any purpose, unless applicable law says otherwise.

3. Who do we disclose or share information with?

3 (A) With service providers: we work with service providers to carry out tasks including maintaining technology, serving and targeting ads, distributing emails, list processing and analytics, managing promotions and detecting security incidents.

3 (B) With other third parties: we share information with third parties for marketing purposes and to support advertising on the site. We can also preserve or disclose personal information if the law requires us to, to protect our rights and property, to protect against misuse of the services, or to cooperate with government authorities.

4. What are your rights and choices?

4 (A) In general

Communications preferences: you can unsubscribe from our emails by following the instructions near the bottom of the email. You can also write to us at [email protected].

Access, correct, change, delete or restrict processing: in some jurisdictions you may access, modify or delete the personal information we hold about you, be informed of it or receive an electronic copy, and restrict or object to how we process it. Contact us at [email protected].

Browser and platform controls: most web browsers accept cookies by default. Your browser settings will tell you how to delete or reject them. For more, read our Cookie Policy.

Global Privacy Control: some browsers support the Global Privacy Control (GPC). When we detect that signal we make reasonable efforts to respect your choice, as required by applicable law.

4 (B) California privacy notices and rights

If you are a California resident you have certain rights over your personal information, including the right to know, to correction, to deletion, and the right to opt out of the “sale or sharing” of personal information. To exercise them, email us at [email protected].

5. How long do you keep data?

We store your personal information for as long as needed, or permitted, based on the reason we obtained it, consistent with applicable law. Rather than delete your data, we may de-identify it by removing identifying details.

6. How do you protect my information?

We protect your personal information with appropriate organizational, technological and physical safeguards — but we cannot guarantee absolute security. We recommend you use complex, unique passwords for any account you hold with us.

7. Are there guidelines for children?

The Indoor Forecast is intended for a general audience and is not directed at children under thirteen (13) years of age. We do not knowingly gather personal information in a manner not permitted by COPPA. If you are a parent or guardian and you believe we have collected information from your child, contact us at [email protected].

8. How is information transferred internationally?

The Indoor Forecast is headquartered in the United States. If you are located outside the United States, your information is collected in your country and then transferred to the United States, or to another country in which we, our affiliates or our service providers operate.

9. What is our legal basis?

In some jurisdictions, such as the European Union and the European Economic Area, we only collect, use or share information about you when we have a valid reason — a “lawful basis”: the consent you provide, the performance of a contract, compliance with a legal obligation, or legitimate interests.

10. What about third-party services?

Parts of this site contain links to third-party websites, resources, vendors and advertisers. We do not control, and are not responsible for, their content or their privacy practices. We encourage you to read their privacy policies and terms of use.

11. How are changes to this policy communicated?

We post any change on this page by updating this policy. If we make a significant or material change, we will notify you at least 30 days before it takes effect, by email or by a prominent notice on the site.

The dehumidifier has read none of this and is already full.
